Any man or woman in good general health can be a candidate for a tummy tuck operation.  Many women who have loose skin on their abdomen after pregnancy opt for a tummy tuck to restore their midsection.  Another group of folks who often consider abdominoplasty are those who have tried all kinds of diets and exercise plans over the years and still are unable to get their abs to show through.  Tummy tuck operations can often succeed in giving you a six pack when diet and exercise have failed.  Keep in mind though that if you are still planning on losing more weight you should hold off on that tummy tuck until you finally reach your goal weight.

During recovery some mild discomfort is completely normal and is experienced by most people.  You will need to avoid any heavy lifting for 6-8 weeks after your tummy tuck and will be out of work for a minimum of 1 week.  Most people are back to work within 10 days of their tummy tuck operations.  You will continue to see the plastic surgeon after the operation for several months so they can make sure you are healing properly and make any necessary corrections to minimize the scarring from the operation.
